- The unit of student activities organized a workshop on the academic writing in English on Wednesday 14/6/1437 conducted by Mr. Saleem Abdulhadi. The speaker went over a short and general explanation on writing then delved into the more detailed forms of the English sentence which are the simple, complex and compound sentences. Mr. Abdulhadi explained then in details how to organize and edit main and supporting ideas in a piece of writing. He pointed to the need of brainstorming ideas and examples and creative plans when dealing with a topic. In fact such step allows the writer to form cognitive maps containing many ideas which can be included and discussed in the writing. The speaker highlighted the fact that writing necessitates much time and effort and goes through many steps starting from the draft and proofreading to even editing. At the end of the workshop Mr. Abdulhadi interacted with the audience commentaries and answered their questions.
