Second Semester Reception for Fresh Students ( 1435-1436)

The Department of Academic Affairs and the Department of Student Affairs at the College of Science and Humanities in Hawtet Sedair cohosted a reception for fresh students of the college at the College hall on Tuesday 27/01/2015 from 9:00 am. To 12:00 noon. The reception started with recitations from the Holy Quran followed by an open meeting with Dr. Tariq Suleiman Al-Bahlal, the College Dean. Dr. Al-Bahlal welcomed fresh students and talked about the College policy, services, facilities and its departments. He highlighted the significance of obtaining a high cumulative grade through hard work and study stressing the fact that college students’ future depends a great deal on their cumulative work throughout their university life. He also touched upon the differences between university life with its goals of student independence and school life. Dr. Yusuf Muhammad Al-Mahous, Deputy of Academic Affairs, welcomed the new students of the college and explained the importance of the university stage in the student’s life as the first step towards higher education. He pointed to the importance of the academic counselling and the student need to communicate regularly with their academic councilors to solve their problems and overcome any difficulties that may hinder their progress. Deputy of Student Affairs Dr. Abdurrahman Al-Olian received new students and expressed his pleasure of meeting them. Dr. Al-Olian stressed student participation and interaction with the Student Affairs Department appreciating direct and continuous feedback from students. Then Heads of the College departments gave speeches followed by a break. There were 2 short training courses after the break; the first dealt with (Adapting to New Academic Life) by Dr. Jalal Sediq, Head of Student Support Unit, and the second was about the academic system and regulations delivered by Dr. Mahmoud Jaballah
