ROLE OF GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING IN BUILDING STUDENT CHARACTER

In collaboration with the Quality Unit, the Arabic Department held a training session titled (The Role of Guidance and Counseling in Building Student Character). Presenter: Ms. Nawal Al-Fahham. Course title: (The Role of Guidance and Counseling in Building Student Character) Location: annexed building. Date: Monday, 6/3/1438 AH, 9.30 -10.00 am. Target group: Arabic Department students. Objectives: The session aimed at, and succeeded in: 1. Explaining the concepts of guidance and counseling. 2. Describing the goals of guidance and counseling. 3. Identifying the reasons behind academic underachievement. 4. Describing how to build a student’s character socially, psychologically and academically. 5. Explaining how to deal with academic underachievement. During this session, the Arabic Department students were educated in the importance of guidance and counseling for university students. Moreover, the session included the following topics: the role of guidance and counseling in building students’ characters, goals of guidance and counseling, warning students of academic underachievement, as well as its causes and how to deal with it.
