THE ROLE OF ACADEMIC ACCREDITATION IN IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION (STANDARD 4: TEACHING & LEARNING)

Presenter: Dr. Nawal Al-Dosoki. Title: “The Role of Academic Accreditation in Improving the Quality of Education (Standard 4: Teaching & learning)”. Location: Main building theater. Date: Monday till 2/1438 AH. Target group: faculty members and administrative staff members. Objectives: At the completion of training, the trainee will be able to: - Define academic accreditation, its goals and types. - Identify how accreditation standards are assigned according to activity divisions in higher educational institutions. - Describe the basic components of each standard. - Describe accreditation procedures and stages. - Define standards and indicators. - Describe the components of standard 4 and how to achieve each and every one of them. - Verify learning outcomes. Zulfi College of Education held a training session on academic accreditation titled “The Role of Academic Accreditation in Improving the Quality of Education (Standard 4: Teaching & learning)”. Dr. Nawal Al-Dosoki presented the session; in which she defined academic accreditation and described its goals, types and stages. She also reviewed the standards set by the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment, and described the basic components of each standard. After that, she provided a detailed description of the components of standard 4 (Teaching & Learning), and how to verify each and every one of them: 4.1- Learning outcomes. 4.2- Program development processes. 4.3- Program evaluation and review. 4.4- Student Evaluation. 4.5- Providing Academic assistance for students. 4.6- Teaching quality. 4.7- Supporting teaching quality improvement efforts. 4.8- Faculty members’ qualifications and experiences. 4.9- Field experience activities. 4.10- Partnership arrangements with other institutions.
