APPLYING EDUCATIONAL THEORY TO PRACTICE IN TEACHING

Mr. Abdulrahman bin Rumi Al Rumi, from Zulfi College of Education Department of Educational Sciences, showed a great initiative, when he activated the curricular activities of the Education and Communication Techniques course; by taking his students on a field trip. On Thursday, 03/16/1438 AH, at 9:00 am, he accompanied the students on a visit to the Center of Educational Equipment and Technology in the Department of Education. The purpose of the visit was to take the theoretical aspect of the lecture, in order to link the techniques studied by the students as well as their historical development with their practical applications in the local environment, which the student will graduate into. Furthermore, Mr. Al Rumi asked the students to prepare a report on this visit, which will be part of the course evaluation. At the center, the students were greeted by the Head of the Center Mr. Abdulaziz Al Othman, as well as Mr. Abdulrahman Al Turifi, Mr. Ahmed Al Mdeid and Mr. Abdullah Al Nasser; all of whom are educational supervisors specialized in technology. After welcoming the students they accompanied them to the showroom, where they introduced the students to multiple means of educational technology in chronological order; beginning with educational cinema to touchscreens. Moreover, the Head of the Center and the supervisors explained the sequence of technological development to the students; they also turned on some modern devices for them. Then the supervisors listened to the students’ inquiries and answered their questions. Next, the students took a tour at the center, where they saw the Audi-Visual Educational Studio, and learned about its functions and benefits. At the end of the visit, they thanked the Head of the Center and the staff for the warm reception, the quality of preparation and the outstanding presentation of educational means and devices.
